The 69th Filmfare Awards Winners saw the power couple Ranbir and Alia Kapoor dominate the event by winning top awards for films they released last year. Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Male Actor for a Leading Role award for his performance as Sandeep Reddy Vanga in the controversial film Animal.
Alia Bhatt was awarded the Best Female Actor for a Lead Role prize for her performance as Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, a romantic family drama by Karan Johar.
Vidhu Vijay Chopra won the Best Director award for his biographical drama, 12th Fail. It beat Animal, Atlee Kumran’s Jawan (Amit Rai), Siddharth Aanand’s Pathaan (Amit Rai), and Rocky Aur Raani Kii Prem Kahaani.
The critics voted Devashish Makhija’s thriller Joram as the Best Film. Vikrant Masey (12th FAIL), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) all won the Black Lady Award.
The event was hosted by Karan Johar (producer-filmmaker), Ayushmann Khurana, and Maniesh Paul (TV host). It featured glamorous red carpet-appearances, captivating performances, and inspirational moments of victory.
