IND vs ENG: It’s Time For T20 World Cup Revenge

IND vs ENG: At the Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, the 29th match in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, hosts India face off against the defending champions England.

It will be an exciting match between two teams loaded with ammunition on all fronts. Here’s a look back at India vs England in ODIs & the ICC Cricket World Cup.

India vs England Head-to-Head Record – ODIs

India and England have faced off 106 times in ODI Cricket, with the Men in Blue dominating the scoreboard 57-44.

Over the years, both cricket nations have played many memorable matches in this format. The rivalry has never always succeeded in delivering India’s Natwest Trophy victory at Lord’s to Andrew Flintoff removing the shirt at Wankhede, from Sunil Gavaskar’s painstaking WC knock to Graham Gooch’s sweep masterclass in 1987 to Ashish Nehra’s demolition in Durban to Robin Uthappa’s last-over finish in 2007 at the Oval to the run-fests of recent years.

India vs England Head-to-Head Record – ODI World Cup

India and England met eight times in the ICC Cricket World Cup. The ‘Three Lions” won four of those encounters. Sunil Gavaskar’s 36* from 174 during India’s 335-meter run chase was a controversial knock.

India pulled off a major heist when they beat England by six wickets in the semi-final to secure their place in the final at Lord’s.

England did the same thing in the semi-final of the 1987 World Cup. Graham Gooch knocked out the defending champions in front of an enthralled crowd at the Wankhede.

India lost another close match in 1992 (by nine runs). Still, it redeemed itself in 1999 by knocking out the hosts England with a 63-run win in Birmingham.

Ashish Nehra dominated the English batting unit in Durban, securing an 82-run victory. The best India vs England WC match was in 2011. After 8 hours of back-and-forth, neither side could win.

Sachin Tendulkar’s 120 off 115 and Andrew Strauss’s 158 off 145 were both amazing hundreds. Zaheer Khan also bowled a spell of reverse swing that was sensational. Ravi Shastri concluded the match by saying, “No team deserved to win the game.”

The 2019 match was disappointing due to the lacklustre performance of MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, and England’s powerful batting.

IND vs ENG Semifinal 2022: India Out of World Cup After Defeat Against England

India claimed that they had changed the way they played T20 cricket. Still, it was all for nothing when England beat Pakistan by ten wickets in the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinals at the Adelaide Oval.

Alex Hales (86, not out) and Jos Buttler (80,00 not out) were brutal as England chased 169 in 4 overs with ten wickets left. Buttler’s intentions were clear when he sent Bhuvneshwar a down-the-pitch to Bhuvneshwar, prompting Rohit Sharma to bring Rishabh Pan up to the stumps. Butler set the tone with three boundaries from his first over.

India has played England in bilateral T20I matches at home and abroad over the past two years. India won both series, but the experience of the past didn’t matter on the big night in Adelaide.

What Is The Change?

It was important how England approached the game. The word “approach” is used often in this report but for a good reason. The team’s management made a big deal about their “new approach” after being eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2013.

India needed to pay for its lack of intention. India also paid for their lack of intent and confusion about Dinesh and Rishabh. It was another heartbreaking event where many questions remained unanswered.

Buttler screamed joyfully as England won the match off the final ball of the 16th Over. After India’s semifinal loss, the Pakistan Cricket Board takes a shot at them.

Pakistan’s cricket association poked fun at India’s semifinal loss to England during the T20 World Cup. The board posted a photo of a boarding card from Adelaide to Mumbai with Rohit Sharma at the airport.

IND vs ENG at the ICC World Cup

England defeated India in the ICC T20 World Cup. Now it’s time to take revenge and confirm their semifinal place. Be ready for the Sunday clash between IND vs ENG ICC ODI World Cup.
