The creators of Kalki 2898 AD released the teaser trailer of Amitabh Bachchan’s appearance in the sci-fi dystopian film Sunday evening. Star Sports aired the video’s 21-second promo.
The highly anticipated film that will have Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani as prominent characters has revealed in its teaser video that Amitabh Bachchan will take on Ashwatthama’s role.
The teaser, which runs for only a few seconds, begins with The Don actor praying before the Shiva Linga in what appears to be an underground cave.
However, he is interrupted by a young boy who asks, “Can you not die? Are you a god? What is your true self?” With escalating tension, Big B’s resonant voice declares, “Since long ago, I’ve been waiting to see the Avatar’s appearance. Guru Drona’s son. Ashwatthama.”
In the past, during the weekend, the creators of Kalki 2898 AD posted a picture that featured Big B’s character. They added, “The moment has arrived to be aware of who Big B is.”
Amitabh Bachchan also posted about his experience working on this film on the account X page on Sunday.
“Kalki 2898 AD It’s been an unforgettable experience that I’ve never experienced like any other. The thought process of thinking about it’s a good idea and how it was executed, the exposure to new technology and, most importantly, the company of friends with a soaring Superstar presence …,” the post read.
Kalki 2898 AD is produced by Nag Ashwin, known for his work on Mahanati, the National Award-winning 2018 biographical drama Mahanati.
The film is Deepika Padukone and Prabhas’ first project together, and the actor, along with Amitabh Bachchan, previously co-starred in the 2015 film Piku.
Amitabh Bachchan Plays Ashwatthama
The film’s producers have revealed that Kalki 2989 AD will have Amitabh Bachchan play Ashwatthama’s character. A teaser trailer for the film was posted via Star Sports, which had Amitabh Bachchan in yellow clothing.
He was seen praying amid the Shiva Linga in what appears to be an underground cave. A child asks who the man is, and he responds, “Since ancient times, I have been waiting for the arrival of the Avatar. I am the son of Guru Drona. Ashwatthama.”

Ashwin disclosed captivating details about the epic science-fiction project in the past few months, announcing that “Kalki 2898 AD will provide an amazing visual feast.
In his address at the Synapse 2024 conference held in Gurgaon, Ashwin expressed, “I simply wish there was more technology available to assist us in creating the film like we did three or four years ago when we were in the preproduction stage.
We are creating this brand new world that looks like… I’m taking a look at this image right now on screen. And all the different worlds we’re trying to build.
We work with many concept artists and give prompts and, again, with a very intimate, one-on-one approach, and then attempt to provide the references to build this new world.”
The film is produced through C Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies. The musical music to “Kalki” is composed in the hands of Santhosh Narayanan.
Although the first announcement in January indicated a worldwide launch date of May 9 2024, the inability to provide further updates raises questions about this date.
