The Gujarat Titans were dealt a significant blow on Thursday, February 22, when their star seamer Mohammed Shami was ruled out of the IPL 2024 because of an ankle injury.

PTI was informed by a BCCI source that Mohammed Shami, would be travelling to the UK to undergo surgery.

Mohammed Shami IPL 2024: Shami has had pain in his ankle for months. The right-armer had pain in his left ankle for months. Despite not being in the starting XI in the first few games, Shami was able to shine with the ball, despite the ball, and emerge as the leading wicket-taker at the 2023 World Cup with 24 wickets in only seven matches.

Shami travelled to London to receive treatment for his injury in the last weeks of January, shortly after the World Cup.

Shami received injections in London but did not recover as expected. The board, therefore, decided to send Shami for surgery to London.

The injection failed to work, and now the only option is surgery. He will be returning to the UK soon for surgery. “, said a BCCI spokesperson.
