What is BCCI Central Contracts & Their Benefits, Know Here Complete Details

The BCCI Central Contracts is an annual contract introduced by India’s apex cricket body to reward and recognise the best Indian cricketers in all formats of the sport.

The contracts are divided up into categories. Players are graded according to their performance, experience and contribution to the squad. These players also receive additional remuneration from the top body.

What is the BCCI Central Contract (CCC)?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India Central Contract is a contract between the BCCI and selected cricketers. It outlines the cricketers’ remuneration and responsibilities for representing the Indian team in various formats during the year.

Player categories: BCCI classifies players according to their performance, experience and contribution to the group. The BCCI offers higher benefits and compensation to players in higher grades.

Remuneration: The central contracts guarantee that players will receive a fixed retainer fee each year, regardless of whether they participate in matches or tournaments. The retainer fee varies according to the Grade of the player. A+ players receive the highest amount.

Match fees: Players earn match fees in addition to their retainer fee for every game they play, including Tests, One-Day Internationals, and Twenty20 Internationals. The match fee is different for each format and separate from the retention fee.

Prizes and Bonuses: In addition to the match fee and retainer fees, exceptional performances can also be rewarded by bonuses and prizes. These incentives are meant to motivate players to achieve excellence.

Promotion/Demotion of Grade: The performance and form of the player are important factors in determining his Grade. Performances that are above average may result in promotion, while performances below par or inconsistent could lead to demotion.

Contract duration: BCCI Central contracts are usually awarded annually and cover a particular cricketing season. The contract duration is aligned with the cricketing season, which ensures that players receive adequate compensation for their services.

Additional Benefits: In addition to financial rewards, central contract players can also benefit from various privileges and perks, including access to modern training facilities, medical assistance, travel allowances, etc.

By signing the central contract, the players agree to represent the Indian Cricket Team in international matches sanctioned by the BCCI.

The players are not allowed to play in any domestic leagues outside India until they receive a BCCI No-objection certificate.

What is the Value of a BCCI Contract?

A+ is worth INR 7 Crore, A is INR 5 Crore, B is INR 3, and C is INR 1.

BCCI Terminates Ishan Kishan And Shreyas Iyer’s Central Contracts With Immediate Effect. Rinku Singh And Tilak Vama Get In

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer, two Indian batters who ignored the BCCI directives for years, were punished by being left off the list of central contracts announced on Wednesday.

Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, as well as India captain Rohit Sharma, have all been placed in the Grade A+ category.

Ishan Iyer and their absence from the Ranji Trophy has been making headlines for nearly a month. This is mainly because the BCCI had repeatedly stressed the need for First-Class Cricket and not only the IPL.

Iyer and Ishan did not change their minds, so the BCCI decided it was time to punish their two top India cricketers. The BCCI started to explain the absence of the two players from central contracts.

Rinku Singh, Tilak Vama, and other new names were included on the central contract list. The pair was added to Grade C, which also includes Shivam Dube and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who both made strong comebacks in the Indian T20I Team.

Jitesh Singh, who replaced Ishan Kishan in the Indian T20I, is included on the “C” list. Rishabh Pant, who was out of action after his car accident in December 2022 and has not played since is now in Grade B.

This group also includes Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Pant will likely return to the Indian Premier League in 2024. Suryakumar remains India’s best short-format batter.

Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and others have played for the team in various formats in recent months. The former has produced crucial performances during the ongoing Test Series against England.

Jaiswal’s consistent performances in T20Is, Tests and other international matches were rewarded. He played a crucial role in India winning the Test Series against England and is still the leading run-scorer of the five-match series in Dharamsala with one game left.

The Grade A central contracts included the veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, along with star pacers Mohammed Shami (and Mohammed Siraj), as well as KL Rahul and Shubman Gil.

Hardik Pandya secured his place in the Grade A central contracts as the all-rounder who led the Indian T20I team throughout 2023.

New Additions Likely

The Grade C contract was automatically awarded to players who met certain criteria. For example, they had to play a minimum of three Tests, eight ODIs, or ten T20Is within a designated period (October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024).

In its statement, the BCCI added that Dhruv Juel and Sarfaraz – who have played two Tests – could be promoted to Grade C if both of them play in the next Dharamsala Test match against England.

The Selection Committee recommended that certain players be offered fast bowling contracts in addition to their annual contracts. This was done because of their special skills and potential contribution to the department.

These contracts were awarded to Akash Deep as well as Vijaykumar Vyshak. Umran Malik is also included in Yash Dail and Vidwath Kverappa.
