IND vs NZ: It’s Time to Take Revenge

IND vs NZ: India and New Zealand meet in the 21st match of the ongoing 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup. The ongoing ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 will feature match number 21. The match will be played on Sunday, October 22, at 2:00 pm IST. The match is scheduled at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala (Himachal Pradesh).

Men in Blue, who have won three straight matches against Australia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, will be looking to continue their winning streak.

On the other hand, New Zealand is also unbeaten, having won their last match against Afghanistan. New Zealand is currently ranked first in the points table, followed by India.

The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, is preparing to play New Zealand this Sunday in their fifth ICC ODI World Cup match. They are determined to overcome their historic struggles against the Black Caps at significant International Cricket Council tournaments.

New Zealand has repeatedly shown that it is India’s greatest opponent in ICC tournaments. The World Test Championship final in June 2021 and the ICC T20 World Cup group match in 2021 clearly indicate this. India has consistently beaten difficult opposition in ICC tournaments over the past decade. However, they cannot solve the mystery of the Black Caps.

India’s last victory over New Zealand was at the 2003 World Cup under Sourav Ganguly. The team won by seven wickets.

Since then, India has lost every match against the Black Caps at ICC tournaments. The task ahead will be challenging for the Men in Blue.

India’s Only Loss in the 2007 T20 World Cup

New Zealand was the only team to defeat India in the 2007 T20 World Cup. BlackCaps batters excelled on a pitch that was favorable to them. New Zealand scored 190 in a spirited effort led by Brendon McMillan, Craig McMillan and Jacob Oram.

India’s openers launched a brisk 76-run opening partnership in only 5.5 overs. Gautam Gambhir contributed 51 runs off 33, and Virender Sehwag added 40 runs off 17. The middle order, however, failed to provide much support, and the final champions fell just ten runs short.

NZ Stun INDIA

India’s 2016 World Cup campaign got off to a bad start at home as New Zealand shocked them with a 47-run victory. After Kane Williamson had won the toss and India decided to field first, Ravichandran Ashwin, Suresh Nehra and Ashish made quick progress, reducing New Zealand’s score to 35/3 within seven overs.

New Zealand, however, managed to score a total of 126 with Corey Anderson’s (34 from 42), Mitchell Santner (18 off 17) and Luke Ronchi (21* off 11). India’s batters had a difficult time batting on a turning, challenging pitch.

They lost wickets from the very beginning. India’s worst T20 World Cup batting effort was 79 runs, with only MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli reaching double figures.

India’s Semi-Final Performance In The 2019 ODI World Cup

The legendary India captain MS Dhoni’s last international match was the semi-final defeat to New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup. Dhoni’s half-century was a solid effort in the semi-final match at Manchester. Still, India failed to qualify for the final.

New Zealand won the toss, elected to bat and scored 239/8 from their 50 overs in two days. India’s top order, which included Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, suffered an early defeat against the disciplined New Zealand attack.

Trent Boult (who shared the wickets with Matt Henry and James Neesham) and Matt Henry (who took all three wickets) reduced them to 5/3, then 24/4.

MS Dhoni’s patient 50 gave some hope. Ravindra Jadeja scored a valiant 77 off 59 deliveries. But wickets continued to fall at critical moments, and the required run rate increased. In the 49th over, India was bowled for 221 runs.

NZ Wins 2021 World Test Championship Final

New Zealand has become the first-ever ICC World Test Champions after securing a dramatic 8-wicket win against India in the final thrilling hour of the reserve day at the Hampshire Bowl.

India’s batters found it difficult to get into a rhythm during the morning session. They were facing an old foe but with the red Dukes Ball. In a match affected by unpredictable weather, they were bowled for just 170 runs in a morning session where the batters should have been favored.

The Black Caps reached the fourth innings target of 139 runs in 53 overs thanks to a 52-run unbeaten knock by captain Kane Williamson and a 47-run not-out knock from Ross Taylor.

India Loses Again in the 2021 T20 World Cup

Trent Boult of New Zealand and Ish Sodhi of New Zealand took five wickets to restrict India to 110/7 in the Super 12 match played in Dubai.

Southee removed Rahul (18), Sodhi Sharma (14) and Kohli (9). Boult’s final delivery claimed two vital wickets. Pandya (23), Jadeja (26*), and Pandya (23) offered some resistance.

Guptill was then bowled out by Bumrah (2/19). Mitchell (49) added to Williamson’s 72 runs. Conway and Williamson completed the chase after Guptill left. India lost another match to New Zealand at the ICC Tournament.
