Amila Kalugalage confirmed to ESPN that Matheesha Pathirana has arrived in Chennai. She will be joining the Chennai Super Kings squad shortly.
Pathirana was sidelined after sustaining a hamstring strain during the second T20I in the series against Bangladesh. He missed CSK’s first match of the season against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Kalugalage shared a picture of Pathirana on X (formerly Twitter), confirming his presence in Chennai, and indicating his imminent inclusion in the CSK team.
Matheesha Pathirana, despite being the most successful wicket-taker in the last IPL season with 19 wickets in just 12 matches and an economy bowling performance of 8.90, is still awaiting confirmation from Sri Lanka Cricket.
CSK had a great start to the tournament. They won their first match against RCB thanks to the impressive bowling of Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur, who recorded figures of 4-29.
