“Virat spoke to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management, and the selectors and has stressed that, while representing his country has always been the top priority, some personal situations require his presence and undivided focus. The BCCI respects the decision of the star batsman and has offered its full support to him.

The BCCI has stated that it respects the batter’s decision and that the Board of Directors and the team management have extended their support to him. They are confident of the ability of the rest of the squad to deliver commendable performance in the Test Series.

The BCCI asks that the media and fans respect Virat’s privacy and avoid making assumptions about his motives. The focus should be supporting the Indian team in their upcoming Test series.

Who Will Replace Virat Kohli?

BCCI confirmed that Team India would announce Kohli’s successor soon. Kohli played 113 test matches for India. The 35-year-old Sarfaraz Khan has scored 8,848 runs in 191 Test innings for India, averaging 49.16. The former India captain has scored 29 centuries and 30 half-centuries during the most extended format.

Kohli scored the most runs for India in the previous series of Tests against South Africa. India beat the Proteas for the first time at Cape Town to level the series. It is not confirmed whether Virat Kohli will play in the third Test, which takes place at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium (on February 15), or later.

Harry Brook, a player from England, had also withdrawn earlier for personal reasons. The Indian team’s first practice occurred at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Monday around 9:30 am.
