Due to personal issues, Virat Kohli has decided to miss the five-Test match series against England. On Saturday, the BCCI announced the Indian squad for the final three tests against England.

Kohli’s absence disappointed some fans, while others supported his decision to prioritize his family.

Fans of India’s batting legend Kohli quickly noted that this could end battles with England’s fast-bowling legend James Anderson.

According to the ICC Future Tours Programme, Anderson, 41, will not be around for the next India-England test series. Kohli is the first player to miss an entire series at home in his distinguished career.

The BCCI has stated that it “respects and supports” Kohli’s decision not to play in the remaining Tests.

The BCCI released a press release stating, “The Men’s Selection Committee has announced India’s team for the final three tests of the IDFC First Bank Series against England.”

Due to personal reasons, Virat Kohli will not be available for selection in the remaining series. The Board respects Mr. Kohli’s decision and fully supports it,” said the statement.

The BCCI medical team must first determine that Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, and other players are fit to play.

However, the BCCI did not disclose why Iyer was absent. The batter’s scores in the first two tests were 35, 13, 27, and 29.

Rahul and Jadeja missed the second test due to injuries. India leveled the series after winning the second test by 106 runs.

After being called up to the India Test squad, Bengal pacer Akashdeep received his first India call-up. He replaced Avesh Khan, who will continue to play for Madhya Pradesh Ranji Trophy.

Ranchi will host the fourth test starting February 23, 2024. The third test begins in Rajkot on February 15, 2024. The final trial of the series, which will take place in Dharamsala on March 7, 2024, is scheduled to begin.
