Hardik Pandya Ruled Out From World Cup 2023

Hardik Pandya, the Indian all-rounder, has been ruled out of the World Cup, the ICC announced on Saturday. Pacer Prasidh Krishna replaces him in the Indian squad.

Pandya sustained an ankle injury against Bangladesh last month in Pune and underwent rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy of Bangalore before it was decided he could no longer play in his tournament.

Hardik Pandya Replacement

ICC Technical Committee approved Krishna as his replacement. Krishna has played 17 ODIs and taken 29 wickets at an average of 25,58. He will join Jasprit Bhumrah (also known as Mohammed Shami), Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur in the pace bowler squad.

Indian team management and the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) have kept Pandya’s injury quiet; insiders attempted to minimize it by suggesting it was minor and that he’d soon return.

BCCI announced he will rejoin his teammates in Lucknow after missing the New Zealand game at Dharamsala.

What Rohit Says After Hardik Is Ruled Out Of The World Cup

Rohit Sharma’s remarks before the Mumbai match increased curiosity when he said: “That is all I can tell you for now.” Rohit also mentioned how Pandya is progressing well after recovering from his injury – with Rohit citing Pandya’s progress after recovery being very positive.

Whatever procedure was undertaken following his injury… It proved beneficial. Although currently unavailable to play against Sri Lanka due to this severe condition, we must monitor its progress daily.

“We must ascertain his progress and recovery, how many bowling and batting sessions he’s undertaken, as well as the frequency of matches held over 3 to 4 days, so it will be crucial for us to monitor his situation daily,” Rohit stated the evening before playing Sri Lanka.

Pandya had left the NCA before India’s game against Sri Lanka and returned home, yet did not join his teammates for their flight on Friday;

Team management claimed India had already qualified for the semifinals, so there was no rush in sending Pandya back. On Saturday morning, however, his replacement was unexpectedly and unexpectedly announced by them.

ICC Statement on Hardik Pandya

The International Cricket Council released a statement explaining that Pandya had sustained left ankle ligament damage during India’s World Cup game against Bangladesh last month in Pune and had not fully recovered to participate in further matches during his campaign.

Hardik Pandya’s ankle injury was initially thought to be a minor sprain. However, further investigation revealed a tear in the ligaments, which required surgery and a recovery time of between 10-15 days was expected for Grade 1 injuries such as his.

India will be devastated by Hardik’s injuries, which prove more severe than initially anticipated as not only was he performing well with both bat and ball, but he provided much-needed balance as the 6th bowler option as well. With Hardik out, India has included Mohammed Shami and Suryakumar to compensate for his absence.

Prasidh has since played 19 ODIs for India and 33 T20Is since his replacement by Prasidh. After almost one year on the sidelines due to his lumbar strain fracture, he returned in two T20Is, where he made 2/32/29 returns before playing two ODIs against Australia with impressive stats – two wickets at Indore (2/56 at one) and another (1/25) against Rajkot (including David Warner’s door).

He also took part in India’s Asia Cup squad. He took one game against Bangladesh, where he took 1/43 before going on to retake 1/43 against them and take two more ODIs against Bangladesh, in two matches where he played one against them before taking David Warner’s wicket before concluding them both.

Prasidh Krishna ODI Career

Prasidh was initially left off India’s World Cup team but now represents Karnataka at India’s premier domestic Twenty20 tournament: the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy – India’s premier domestic T20 competition. In this competition, he has taken wickets in 1/15 Madhya Pradesh matches, 1/15 Nagaland matches, 1/30 Uttar Pradesh matches and 2/3 1 Tripura matches.

This streak would likely prevent Prasidh from playing due to India’s seven-game winning streak and Mohammed Shami taking 14 wickets out of just three partners – unlikely he’d get any game time due to India winning streak, with Prasidh unlikely ever getting out in this tournament due to India winning streak. Mohammed Shami took 14 wickets in just three matches alone.
