Hindu Temple in Dubai: The first Hindu traditional stone temple in Abu Dhabi, hailed by many as a spiritual oasis for harmony, is a masterpiece of hand-carved statues and a treasure chest of stories.

The BAPS Hindu Mandir is a majestic structure with seven towering spires, one for each emirate, and two beautiful domes. It stands on 27 acres donated by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Trendsmyth received a tour of this iconic temple before the grand opening of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha’s current spiritual guru, His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14.

The temple will be open for public worship starting February 18 through registration. The pink sandstone building, built by skilled artisans in India, is a testament to humanity’s inclusive spirit. Not only Hinduism but also other religions and civilizations are represented.

Impressive Dune Structure

The impressive dune structures created using sand from each of the seven emirates are the first thing one notices when entering the premises.

The temple was built as a tribute to the late Sanstha spiritual leader, His Holiness Pramukh Swamiji Maharaj, who, in 1997, while standing in a desert near Sharjah, expressed his wish to construct a temple in Abu Dhabi. The BAPS, the UAE leadership, and the Indian leadership have all made this dream a reality.

Waterfall Feature And Sustainability

Visitors are welcomed by a stunning waterfall representing the sacred Indian rivers, Ganga Yamuna and Saraswati. The temple’s flooring is made with the latest technology, which keeps the temperature cool.

Visitors can enter the temple premises without shoes. Eco-friendly shoehouses feature 96 bells to commemorate the late Pramukh Swamiji Maharaj.

Benches, tables, and chairs are made from the pallets used to transport stones. These features make this temple one of Hinduism’s most sustainable places.

Enjoy The Splendor Of Moments

The temple is the main attraction, reflecting India’s rich history and culture with Arabic symbols. The intricate stone carvings tell the stories of the Indian epics Ramayana, Mahabharata, and other Hindu myths and scriptures.

The temple was built by the ancient Hindu Sanskrit architecture scriptures shastras,’ which depicts stories from Arabians, Egyptians, Mesopotamians, Aztecs, and Indians.

The art inside the temple is stunning. The ‘Dome of Harmony and the Dome of Peace are two spectacular carvings that catch the eye.

The ‘Dome of Harmony’ is a five-layered symbol that embodies the essence of Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space. The ‘Pillar of Columns’ is an impressive masterpiece with thousands of minutely engraved pillars.

The temple will house Hindu deities from different parts of India. These include Swaminarayan and Rama. Sita is also represented. Krishna, Ayyappan, and Sita are all included. The gods are placed under the seven spires.

Abu Mureikhah will host several events before and after its official opening. This iconic landmark will become a place for Hindus to worship and where they can learn about other faiths, cultures, and religions.
