Indore Won 7th Time “Cleanest City In The Country Award”

Indore Won 7th Time: Kailash Vijayvargiya, the minister of urban administration and development, announced on Friday that Indore had won the title ‘CLEANEST CITY IN THE COUNTRY” for the seventh consecutive time.

In a press conference, he thanked the Indore people, the employees and staff at the Indore Municipal Corporation, and the Mayor of Indore for achieving the title for the seventh consecutive time.

He also congratulated Mhow Cantonment on its win in the category. The official announcement will be made on January 11 in New Delhi.

“I congratulate Mayor Indore, the people of Indore, and the employees of IMC. Indore is the cleanest city in the country for the seventh consecutive time.

Mhow Cantonment won the same title for being the cleanest city in its category. “Kharbuja, Kharbuje ko dekhkar Rang badalta h” (As old cocks crow, so do the young) is what Mhow learned from Indore.

While Mayor Pushyamitra Bhartav and IMC Commissioner Harshika Singh confirmed they had been invited to the event, neither claimed any knowledge of the award.

The President of India has invited us to the National Award. In the invitation, it is not stated what ranking Indore received. We are confident that we will win the first place and retain the country’s cleanest cities tag for the seventh consecutive year,” said the Mayor.

More Than 1.11 Cr Lamp To Be Lit On January 22

Vijayvargiya announced that more than 1.11 crore earthen lights would be lit throughout the city on January 22 to celebrate the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir Temple at Ayodhya.

He suggested that the corporators of each ward should organize a painting competition in their schools about Shri Ram Temple. A match with over 31,000 children should be held as well. Guinness Book of Records attempt will be made.

Pushyamitra Bhargav, the Mayor of Agra, said that the consecration was a matter of pride. The idol of Lord Shri Ram will be situated in the temple after 550 years.

The meeting aimed to determine what people wanted to do to commemorate the occasion. Representatives from all walks of life were residents, educators, business people, hoteliers, marketers, school-college associations, and public officials. Indore will also celebrate this festival from January 14 to January 22.

Swachh Survekshan: Indore Aims For A Title For The Seventh Time

IMC’s additional commissioner, Siddhartha Jain, said Indore will win first place. It has already met 48 of the 50 parameters for the 2023 Swachhsurvekshan toolkit.

Surat and Navi-Mumbai have made the competition more challenging, achieving the 7-Star ranking, which Indore won as the country’s only city last year.

Indore earned 200 points last year through the 7-Star ranking and moved Surat to second place with only a 50-point margin.

He said that besides continuing the set practice of cleanliness, in the last year, we worked on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, as many centers were established throughout the city to bring garbage back to use while holding large programs like Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas, as zero-waste events go in favor for Indore.

He said that IMC has received 60 registrations for the award from senior officials, representatives of the public, and sanitation workers in Delhi. A team from Delhi had already shot videos of cleanliness in different parts of Indore, which will be shown at the award ceremony.
