Fight between Gambhir & Sreesanth: Sreesanth’s post-match tirade against Indian World Cup-winning player Gautam Gambhir may be more severe than anticipated, according to an report.
The LLC Commissioner issued a notice of legal action against Sreesanth following their heated exchange and his claim that Gautam Gambhir called him out as being a fixer during an Legend League Cricket (LLC) match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants.
S Sreesanth shared details of his conversation with Gautam Gambhir via an Instagram video after the match. According to reports, the LLC Commissioner was discontent that S Sreesanth took up this matter publicly and suggested this breached the contract agreement.
The umpires intervened and separated the two players.
Sreesanth went live on Instagram and said, “He called me fixer on live television, on the centre wicket. **** Off you fixer.”
“I laughed sarcastically and said, ‘What’s your saying?’ “He spoke in the same way to the umpires when they were trying to control him,” he added.
Sreesanth received a lifetime ban from the BCCI’s discipline committee for his alleged involvement with the IPL spot-fixing scandal.
The Supreme Court of India reduced the ban to seven years in 2019.
“Legends League Cricket is committed to upholding the spirit of sportsmanship and cricket. We will conduct an internal investigation on any violation of the code. Syed Kirmani said that any misconduct on or off the field, including social media platforms, will be dealt with harshly.
Gautam Gambhir also wrote, “Smile when the world is focusing on attention!”
The code of conduct clearly states that players who bring shame to their teams, the league and the spirit of the sport will face necessary sanctions.
The former Indian wicket keeper added, “We make it very clear that we will continue to work toward sharing the game with millions of cricketing fans across the nation and the world.”
Sreesanth said he did not utter a foul word and could not understand the motive behind Gambhir’s alleged outburst.
“I didn’t say anything bad.” Please support the truth. He’s been doing this with many people. I don’t know why he did it. It was the end.
“Now, his people say ‘ sixer sixer bola hu’, but he says ‘unhone bola tu fixer’. This is not how you should talk. I was going to leave it here, but his family is trying to save him. Sreesanth said, “I ask you to avoid any extra paid PR work.
Raman Raheja, CEO of LLC, said that the league would take “appropriate actions against any breach of contract”.
Raheja added, “All players contracting in the Legends League Cricket will be bound by certain terms relating to misconduct, and the necessary actions will be taken based on the Code of Conduct and Ethics Committee.”
The incident was deemed unfortunate by LLC, and it took the focus away for a brief time from an exciting season that has been so far.
Gambhir, a BJP member from East Delhi who was on life Thursday with Sreesanth, posted a picture on X of him in an Indian jersey, smiling. The caption read: “Smile when the world focuses on you!”
“That is exactly what happened today,” Sreesanth said that he called me rude things without any provocation. Mr Gautam Gambhir shouldn’t say such things.
I don’t believe that I am to blame. I just wanted to set the record straight. You will all find out what Mr Gauti did sooner or later. It is unacceptable that he spoke and said these things on a live cricket field.
“My family, the state, everyone has been through so much.” Your support was invaluable to me as I fought this battle. People are now trying to bring me down for no good reason. He said things that he shouldn’t. He repeated, “I will tell you exactly what he said.”
Virat Kohli and Gambhir have had several contentious exchanges during this year’s IPL tournament; one such incident occurred earlier when Royal Challengers Bangalore played Lucknow Super Giants.
Investigations by LLC
The LLC released a statement in response to a heated exchange between Sreesanth and Gautam Gambhir over an incident during a match, declaring they will conduct an internal inquiry and immediately deal with any evidence of misconduct.
Sreesanth accused Gautam Gambhir on social media of using vulgar and offensive language and acting disrespectfully, prompting him to post an Instagram photo with the words: “Smile When The World Is All About Attention!”.
Sreesanth was further incensed by Gambhir’s Instagram posting and asked whether or not he stood above the Supreme Court.
Sreesanth stated, “You no longer represent people as you continue to fight with each cricketer individually – what’s with that?! Seriously?! Do you think you are above the Supreme Court, or are you not authorized to say what you like?”

Sreesanth finds the term “fixer” offensive. After being found guilty of spot-fixing during the IPL scandal 2013, former Indian pacer Sreesanth was handed a lifetime ban by the BCCI disciplinary committee.
While some consider this the darkest chapter in Indian cricket’s history, Sreesanth went further, refusing to accept the BCCI ruling and seeking recourse through the Supreme Court, which reduced his ban from 10 years to 7.
