There’s good news for those hoping to travel to Ayodhya for the Ram Mandir Inauguration: Indian Railways is gearing up for an epic event, planning over 1,000 special trains across India to make travel simpler for Hindu devotees.
The much-awaited concert scheduled for January 22, 2024 will soon arrive, and plans have already been put in place by them for their show and festival on January 22.
Timely information should be made available to those planning on travelling to Ayodhya for the historic Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony this January 22 is quickly approaching, and with Indian Railways making plans for over 1,000 special trains that will travel directly from various points across India starting January 19 until January 22, making their journey easier for Hindu pilgrims.
Train services will run for 100 days before and during this critical event. On January 23, one day after Lord Sri Ram’s idol is dedicated, his temple will open its doors to the public.
Train service will connect this holy city to 25 major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Kolkata, Nagpur, Lucknow, and Jammu to simplify travel for devotees.
According to sources near Ayodhya station, train numbers could increase in response to increased demand. An upgrade at the station to accommodate the expected visitor surge is underway and should be complete by January 15. The new station will house 50,000 people daily and is anticipated to open.
although Indian railways have planned to run over 1,000 express trains with unique configurations, their exact numbers and schedules are being finalised in consultation with state officials.
According to railway officials, this could increase in line with actual needs. Ayodhya Station was explicitly renovated to accommodate this increased traffic at its facility.
As pilgrims travel in groups to Ayodhya during this period, several trains have been set aside as charter services for groups.
Due to the large number of pilgrims who will arrive during this period, the Indian Railway Food and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) plans to provide food service around the clock through its contracted vendors; additionally, various charities will provide water and food relief along the pilgrims’ routes.

On January 22, Prime Secretary Narendra Modi is set to attend a ceremony to dedicate the Ram Lalla idol at Ayodhya temple grounds – drawing thousands of Lord Ram devotees together with prominent individuals such as industrialists Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, and Ratan Tata as well as cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli and Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan as guests of honour for this historic occasion.
Reports indicate that the Ram Mandir Trust coordinates Ayodhya Ram Mandir Inauguration plans. Worshippers could view Lord Ram Lalla from as close as 320 feet away while walking through its grounds; however, no prasad will be offered immediately following each darshan or prayer session.
Special arrangements have been made for all Ram devotees to receive Prasad on the day of the ceremony due to special deals.
