SA20 League 2024: The South Africa T20 League has now ended its second season. Cricket South Africa is reaping huge rewards from its franchise-based T20 League.
The league became more popular after adding a little IPL flavour. Four teams have advanced to the next round of the tournament – the playoffs.
The SA20’s inaugural season had the traditional semifinals, and the final round was used to determine the winner. The top four teams qualified for the semifinals, and the semi-finalists then played each other in the championship.
Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Pretoria Capitals played in the final, where Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the inaugural season of this new T20 league.
SA20 League, the current season, has adopted a playoff format similar to the IPL, where the top four teams on the points table will compete for the title. The top two teams on the points table play in Qualifier 1, while the remaining two play in Eliminator.
The winners of Qualifier 1 will gain direct entry into the finals. However, the losers will be given another chance to make it to the final by playing against the Eliminator winner in Qualifier 2, a second attempt to get to the final.
The SA20 2024 playoffs begin on 6th February, and the final is on the 10th. Newlands Stadium will host the final and Qualifier 1, while Wanderers Stadium will host Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and Qualifier 2 in Johannesburg.
