Looking back, 2023 was truly remarkable for Bollywood as audiences returned to theatres and helped revive the business.
Shah Rukh Khan has been at the core of Bollywood’s success this year. With three films under his belt- Pathan, Jawan, and Dunki- released by him alone throughout 2023, victory in show business was assured.
Other big releases such as Salman Khan’s Tiger 3, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2, Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2, and Ranveer Alia’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani gave an immense boost.
Vicky-Sara’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, alongside Karthik Kiara Satyaprem Ki Kata by Shahid Kapoor, has contributed immensely to its success this year.

2024 will face stiff competition to repeat these achievements; nonetheless, 2024 promises great things – here are some of the anticipated films for 2024.
1. Merry Christmas
Andhadhun, Sriram Raghavan’s previous release, was an exciting, darkly comedic crime thriller featuring Ayushmann Khurana and Tabu in top performances.
Now, with Vijay Sethupathi paired up with Katrina Kaif – something only Sriram Raghavan could dream up – audiences are in for yet another unpredictable adventure from him.
2. Fighter
Siddharth Aand is responsible for pairing up Hrithik and Deepika for another cinematic outing: Pathan is Anand’s attempt at making it three in a row by releasing this aerial action flick on Republic Day with high-octane scenes and patriotic elements.
3. Housefull 5
Sajid Nadiadwala will direct and produce this comedy-drama film slated for release in 2024, making it one of the most anticipated releases for that year.
Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh return as stars, creating excitement amongst audiences; Akshay will surely pair off well again as partners on screen.
4. Singham Again
Singham has long been a favourite, and now Singham Again – an action film, is out. Written by Yunus Sjawal, Shantanu Shrivastava, and Milap Zveri;
Directed and produced by Rohit Shetty; featuring Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh Tiger Shroff, and Kareena Kapoor as stars; produced and distributed by Rohit Shetty.
5. Welcome to the Jungle
Since 2023, when its makers released its teaser trailer, this movie has quickly become one of the most anticipated movies for 2024.

Yodha follows soldiers attempting to rescue passengers from a hijacked aircraft; unfortunately, its engine is damaged, making rescue more challenging for everyone involved than anticipated.
7. Chandu Champion
Kabir Khan, Sumit Arora, and Rohit Shukre have collaborated on writing the biographical sports drama Chandu Champion, with Sumit Arora providing the story and screenwriting.
Rohit Shukre penned the dialogue, and Kabir Khan directed it. Kartik Aaryan and Shraddha Kapoor play the main roles, while Adonis Kapsalis and Bhuvan Arora appear.
Cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee worked on its production. Sajid Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment Pvt Ltd produced the critically acclaimed Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2021, while cricket drama 83 began shooting in London on July 14, 2023;
According to reports, PlotReports depicts true-life experiences of athletes, including their dedication and perseverance.
8. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
Users expect more when two martial artists work together. This movie delivers, as Akshay & Tiger are known for their impressive stunts and action movies. The excitement level for this film is much higher.
9. Laapata Ladies
Kiran Rao took more than a decade before she released her second feature film, Dhobi Ghat. Starring Ravi Kishan (of Jamtara fame) and Sparsh Srivastava from Sparsh Shrivastava, this comedy with social commentary won over audiences at its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival 2023, where it was described as both “a comedy-of-errors tale and feminist coming-of-age tale.”
10. The Crew
Tabu, Kareena Kapoor, Diljit, Diljit Sanon, and Kapil Sharma with a cameo. This is another casting ensemble that has the viewer’s interest.
The film, produced by Rhea and Ekta Kapoor, is set in the airline industry. Sanon called it “a quirky fun film” that “has an element of thrill to it.”
11. Kalki, 2898 AD
Nag Ashwin assembled an outstanding cast to star in his “epic dystopian science fiction” drama, featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone.
As this genre has yet to be explored in Indian cinema, expectations are high for this daring production that features both large-scale elements and visionary approaches.
12. Pushpa 2: The Rule
Pushpa 2, Allu Arjun’s popular Indian smuggler character, will surely become another box-office hit upon its release. One question remains whether KGF Chapter 2 could replicate that success – Arjun won a National Award for his acting in part 1; at the same time, Fahadh Faasil will play a larger role as Pushpa’s main antagonist.
13. Stree 2
Maddock Films of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Entertainment possess an adept grasp of horror-comedy. They will soon release a sequel of their successful film, Stree, set for release in 2024, that explores her origins (Shraddha Kahn). Munjya by Aditya Sarpotdar should also not be missed – with credits including Zombivli and Faster Fene, among many more.
14. Jira
Alia Bhatt and esteemed filmmaker Vasan BALA (Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, Monica, and O My Darling) join forces on her next co-production.
The teaser suggests Bhatt’s character as one who will protect her brother despite any cost – it even features Vedang Raina, who plays Reggie from The Archies.
15. Amar Singh Chamkila
Imtiaz Ali and A.R. have come together once more to tell the “untold story” of one of Punjab’s most prolific record-selling artists who was killed along with his wife at 27 – Diljit. Parineeti will feature prominently in Netflix’s biopic about them.
