ICC Ranking Many Indians High Jump In Ranking

ICC Ranking: Shubman Gil, an Indian batsman in his early twenties, has recently overtaken Pakistan’s Babar Azam to become the number one ODI batsman worldwide, according to MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Batting Rankings.

Gill has replaced Babar as India’s No.1 One Day International batter due to his impressive start in Men’s Cricket World Cup campaign.

This makes Gill just one of four Indian players – alongside Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar – to ever hold this title.

Over the past week, the right-hander scored 92 runs against Sri Lanka and 23 against South Africa, amassing 219 total runs over six innings during this tournament.

Babar’s reign as the number-one ODI batsman ends after over two years; now, he ranks second – six points behind Gill.

Gill and Kohli rose to the top spot of the ODI batters rankings, while Mohammed Siraj made history with his ten wickets during World Cup 2015. On a historic day for India, Mohammed Siraj also reached number one on the ODI bowlers rankings after collecting ten scalps.

The World Cup has undoubtedly caused significant change to both batting and bowling rankings, and India’s numerous stars have made a considerable impression.

Kohli scored 543 runs at the World Cup and has made rapid gains, moving three places up the rankings only to be one point off third-placed South African Quinton De Kock.

Men’s ODI Batting Rankings

Shreyas made impressive gains on the list of ODI batters, rising 17 places since his debut. Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman advanced three spots up the chart to 11th. In contrast, Afghan’s Ibrahim Zadran went six areas until reaching the 12th spot on this year’s rankings.

After an impressive showing at the 50-over showcase tournament, four Indian bowlers have broken into the top ten rankings for one-day international bowlers.

Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings

Siraj has moved two places to become the No.1 bowler in One Day International cricket. In contrast, Kuldeep (now fourth from third), Jasprit (eighth from third), and Mohammed Shami (7 places up from 10th place) all remain within the top 10.

Keshav Maharaj from South Africa moved up two places to second. At the same time, Australian counterpart Adam Zampa rose six positions to third.

Shaheen Afridi, last week’s No.1-ranked ODI bowler, fell four classes and tied Josh Hazlewood as fifth in the rankings.

Dilshan Madushanka, who led all bowlers at the World Cup with 31 wickets, has shot up 31 places on the list of ODI bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja (up eight locations to 19th) and South Africa’s left-armer Marco Jansen have also seen substantial advancement.

Shubman Has A Stellar Season

Shubman has had an exceptional year. As Rohit Sharma’s partner in 26 matches, he scored 1449 runs to help India become two-time World Cup Champions and win another in 2023. Averaging 65.00, 23-year-old Shubman scored 219 runs across six World Cup innings while scoring half-centuries against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka during ODI World Cup matches.

At the same time, Kohli equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s record by hitting his 49th one-day international century – equalling his 49th century score at Eden Gardens during India’s last World Cup match!

Gill, 35 years old and former Pakistan captain, gained three spots to reach fourth in the rankings. In contrast, Babar, former Pakistan captain, dropped six rating points to move down into second position on the ICC rankings.

Babar scored 282 runs during eight innings played during the World Cup held in India. At the same time, Gill’s colleague Mohammed Siraj has moved up two spots and now occupies the first position for men’s rankings.
