ICC U19 World Cup: Uday, Sachin, and Saumy Lead India To The Semifinals With A Resounding Victory Over Nepal

India reached the semifinals of the U19 World Cup in 2024 by beating Nepal in the Super 6s game on Friday, 2 February, at the Mangaung Oval near Bloemfontein.

Uday Saharan was the show’s star, as the Boys in Blue went unbeaten in their tournament in South Africa.

India, who had chosen to bat first, was in trouble when they were reduced to 62-3 in just 14 overs. Adarsh, Arshin, who scored a century against the USA, and Priyanshu, Moliya, each made 21, 18, and 19 before losing their start.

Saharan, the skipper, and Sachin combined for 215 runs at the fourth wicket. This put India in an excellent position. Sachin was the leader with 116 runs from 101 balls, with 11 fours and three sixes.

Saharan made 100 runs, while Sachin was supported. India scored a massive 297/5 on the back of these knocks. Gulshan Jaha, who played 38 matches in the senior Nepal team, was the best bowler for Nepal. He took 3 wickets.

Saumy Pandey Shines For India

After a 48-run partnership between Deepak Bohara (for the first wicket) and Arjun Kumar, Nepal started their run chase steadily.

After Raj Limbani had dismissed Bohara, Nepal’s innings collapsed. They were reduced to 77/7 in just 27.5 overs. Akash Chand, Durgesh Gupta, and others in the lower order showed some resistance but only to delay the inevitable.

Pandey was an India star in the tournament, and he didn’t let them down against Nepal. The left arm picked up Kumal, UttamMagar, Dev Khanal, and Bishal BikramKC and finished with 10-1-29-4.

Kulkarni could not deliver at the plate, but his figures were 4-1-18-2. Raj Limbani took one wicket each, as did Aaradhya Shkla and Murugan Abhishek. Chand and Gupta’s 45-run unbeaten stand helped Nepal finish at 165-9.

Pakistan Reaches The Semifinals Of The U19 World Cup After A Thrilling Win Over Bangladesh

Pakistan v Bangladesh at Benoni

Toss: Bangladesh elected to field after winning the toss.

Pakistan wins by five runs.

Pakistan was bowled for 155 by a superb bowling performance. Bangladesh had to win 38.1 overs to have a run-rate advantage against Pakistan.

This would have helped them qualify to the semifinals. In a dramatic game played in Benoni, they lost by just five runs.

Shahzaib Hussain and Shamyl Khan opened their arms after the first few innings. The latter was leading in the run-scoring but fell when a Rohanat Dollah Boson delivery smashed into his off-stump.

The Tigers fought back during the middle overs, even though Pakistan was at 50/1 after the Powerplay. They swept through Pakistan’s top and middle order, led by Borson and Sheikh Jibon.

The team had lost its sixth wicket at 89. The batting side never recovered and could not bat out the quota of their overs.

Jibon and Borson are the most effective Bangladeshi bowlers. Both finished with the same 4/24. Ubaid Khan fought back with two quick wickets in the front row.

Ahrar Amin was his third wicket. Haroon Arshad dived to his left and took a brilliant catching. Ubaid’s wicket was Bangladesh’s 4th, so they needed Ariful Islam and Md. Shihab James.

Ariful was out in the next over. Shamyl was able to intercept the Ali Raza ball brilliantly at point. He nearly managed to send it past the point. Ubaid scored a fourth wicket in the 20th over to reduce Bangladesh’s score to 83/6.

Shihab and Mahfuzur Rahman rebuilt the chase, of which 73 runs were left. Shihab scored first, while Mahfuzur held his own at the other end. Shihab survived the 29th when Ubaid failed to hold onto a simple catch.

Ubaid, however, made amends by catching Shihab in the next game. Ali Raza won the next over, and Pakistan was again on top.

A direct hit gave Pakistan the ninth wicket at 127. Borson and Maruf Mirdha, however, fought for the last wicket. By the 37th over, Bangladesh needed only six runs to win. Mohammad Zeeshan then forced Maruf back to his stumps, securing a tight win for Pakistan.
