Virat & Anushka: AB de Villiers revealed on Saturday the real reason Virat Kohli missed the first two England Test matches, stating that the India star and his wife Anushka are expecting their second baby.

Kohli initially made the team for the first two Test matches against England but pulled out before the Hyderabad match, citing personal issues.

AB De Villiers revealed the shocking news during a YouTube Q&A. One of his fans had asked him whether he had checked with Kohli about his withdrawal from the first two tests against England and if he would be present for the last three matches.

“All I can say is that he’s fine. He’s spending some time with his family. That is why he missed the first two test matches.

I will not confirm anything else. I can’t wait to see him again. “He is fine. He is doing well,” said the former Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman.

To clarify his statement, De Villiers began reading the text messages he exchanged with Kohli. This is when De Villiers confirmed that Kohli and his wife Anushka were expecting their second baby.

Let me see what he has said. “I just want to give you at least a little love,” he said. “So, I wrote to him: ‘Been wanting you to check in for a long time now, biscuits. How are you doing? He replied, “I just need to be with my family now.” I am doing fine.

“Yes, he is expecting a second child. He needs to spend time with his family. You will lose your purpose in life if you do not be true to yourself. Most people prioritise their family. “You can’t condemn Virat for this.”

Three days before the first test against Ben Stokes, Kohli pulled out of the match in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam.

Kohli spoke to India captain Rohit Singh and the team management, according to a BCCI press release. He said that while representing India remains his priority, he must now give his “undivided” attention to his situation.

The statement said, “Virat spoke to Captain Rohit Singh, the team management, and the selectors, and stressed that while representing his country has always remained his top priority, certain personal circumstances demand his presence and undivided focus.”

The Indian Cricket Board has asked fans and the media not to speculate about Kohli’s absence, as Rajat Patidar will replace him in the first two tests.

The BCCI released a statement on January 22: “Mr. Virat Kohli has requested to withdraw from the first two tests of the IDFC First Bank England test series due to personal reasons.”

The BCCI asks that the media and fans respect Virat’s privacy and avoid making assumptions about his motives.

The focus should be on supporting the Indian Cricket Team as they face the challenges of the Test Series. De Villiers didn’t specify whether Kohli would return for the three final matches against England.
