Revanth Reddy Appoint New CM Of Telangana

On Thursday morning, even before A Revanth Reddy was officially inaugurated as the inaugural Congress Chief Minister of Telangana on Thursday afternoon, bulldozers began dismantling iron gates and barricades surrounding Pragathi Bhavan, his official residence.

These bulldozers then started breaking down iron gates that extended into Begumpet’s main road – one symbolic gesture Revanth approved, demonstrating his government would be people-friendly.

Top Congress leaders such as Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjuna Kharge of AICC attended the swearing-in. Siddaramaiah from Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh and Sukhvinder Sukku from Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka were also present.

Revanth invited the families of 300 Telangana martyrs and over 250 statehood activists. Furthermore, Revanth invited public members to attend his swearing-in ceremony and help bring “Indiramma Rajyam” back into Telangana statehood activism.

He stated in his letter that he would provide a democratic and transparent government, as well as form a new one to benefit Dalits, Tribals, Minorities, Women and Youth.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led a delegation that presented Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan with 64 MLA signatures supporting his candidacy for Telangana chief minister’s position and asked her to administer an Oath of Office to him.

Revanth went to Delhi, where he invited members of the Gandhi family, Kharge and KC Venugopal, Digvijaya Singh and Ashok Gehlot.

Invites were extended to former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu chief ministers, civil rights leaders Prof Haragopal, Gade Innaiah, and Kanche Ilaiah.

Reddy currently represents Malkajgiri Constituency as an MP in the Lok Sabha. In 2014, he earned 46.44% of votes cast at Kodangal to become elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.

He won back his seat with 39.06% in the 2014 Andhra Pradesh Assembly Elections before losing it during the 2019 Telangana Assembly Elections. Additionally, in 2017, he left TDP and joined Congress.

He was appointed Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president in June 2021 after N Uttam Kumar Reddy had been removed.

At the recent Assembly elections, the Congress secured 64 of 119 total seats compared with Bharat Rastra Samiti’s 29 victories.

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), which held power over India’s most recently created state for 10 long years, won 38 seats while AIMIM garnered seven and the BJP eight.
