Pakistan’s chances have been diminished because SL has already lost its tie against the Hashmatullah-led side. Although they have yet to be ruled out officially, Pakistan is unlikely to make it through the tournament.
Pakistan’s journey to the semifinal is likely over. They will miss the semifinals once more. Since the 2011 World Cup, when they lost to India, the 1992 WC Champions have yet to make it past the second round.
Pakistan’s last match against Bangladesh
Fakharzaman responded to his critics with a batting performance that produced 81 runs in 74 balls as Pakistan won a crucial match at the Cricket World Cup. Shaheen Afridi claimed his 100th ODI scalp as Pakistan defeated their opponents by 204.
Bangladesh had suffered five consecutive defeats at the tournament, and their defeat meant they could not progress to the knockout stage.
Pakistan has kept alive their hopes of making it to the semifinals in the Cricket World Cup with a 7-wicket victory against Bangladesh, who became the first team eliminated. Shakib al Hasan, captain of Bangladesh, won the toss and chose to bat first.
Al Hasan’s plan to set a high target failed to materialize. Tanzid Hasan was trapped lbw by Shaheen Afridi with the fifth delivery of the match. He also picked up his hundredth one-day wicket.

Fakhar, who failed to score over 35 in any of his previous 10 ODIs, was dropped after the first match.

Pakistan is currently ranked fifth after playing their first match of the current round. They have three wins and four losses from seven matches in India.
Bangladesh won the first round of the competition by beating Afghanistan. However, they have lost six matches in a row since then and cannot progress to the knockout stage.
Pak breaks the losing streak
After losing four matches in a row and being affected by controversies off the field, Pakistan was able to get rid of their monkey with a 7-wicket victory over Bangladesh. Pakistan batters made quick work of Bangladesh’s 204 and chased down the target within 32.3 overs. Babar Azam and his team will now be looking to earn every point possible as the tournament moves towards elimination.
Mehidy Hazan Miraz, who had earlier beaten Babar by 9 runs after he missed his chance to take advantage of it, then scalped Shafique.
Mohammad Rizwan (26) and Iftikhar Ahmad (17) contributed to Pakistan’s victory. Miraz took all the wickets for Pakistan, with a total of 60/3 from his nine overs.
Shakib, the skipper of Bangladesh, scored 43 runs off 64 balls. Earlier, Bangladesh was bowled for 204. Mahmudullah had the highest score with 56. Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Shaheen Shah-Afridi each ended the match with three wickets, while Haris Rauf claimed two.
Pakistan will next face New Zealand, and a victory there would allow them to remain in the semifinal race. The match will be held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Saturday (4 Oct). In their final match, the Men in Green also face England. Bangladesh, on the other side, will play Sri Lanka and Australia for their two remaining matches.

Pakistan needs to win at least one of their two remaining games. But Australia and New Zealand must lose their remaining three matches, and they need to improve their run-rate. Pakistan could win only one of their two games.
