Tata Group Announced To Set-Up 2 Taj Resorts in Lakshadweep

Taj Resorts in Lakshadweep: Narendra Modi’s stunning photos of Lakshadweep have taken social media by storm. The Prime Minister’s visit to the smallest Union Territory of India brought the world’s attention again to the enormous tourism potential of India’s archipelago.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), on the other hand, is preparing to build two Taj-branded resorts in Lakshadweep. In January last year, IHCL announced that it had signed two Taj-branded hotels on the islands of Suheli and Kadmat of Lakshadweep. IHCL will develop the Greenfield Projects, scheduled to open by 2026.

Two Taj-Branded Resorts On the Suheli and Kadmat Islands in Lakshadweep: Rooms, Suites And Other Details

Suheli is a ring-shaped coral reef island with rich marine life surrounding a lagoon. It is an island that is in the shape of a ring. IHCL announced that the Taj Suheli would have 110 rooms, including 60 villas along the beach and 50 water villas.

Kadmat Island is a coral island with a lagoon. It’s also known as Cardamom Island. The area has a marine protected zone with seagrass beds that marine turtles use to nest. IHCL announced that the Taj Hotel at Kadmat would have 110 rooms, 75 beach villas, and 35 water villas.

Puneet Chhatwal (Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of IHCL) stated, “This signing was in line with IHCL’s pioneering spirit, which has placed several destinations, such as Rajasthan and Kerala, on the world tourist map.

The sustainability-focused development will aim to create a minimal footprint while preserving the fragile ecosystem in yet another unexplored location.

Lakshadweep has great potential, especially with its coral reefs and pristine beaches. “The two world-class Taj resorts will appeal to national and international travellers.”

IHCL, a company founded by Jamsed Ji Tata (founder of the Tata Group), has 252 hotels in its portfolio, including 67 under construction. These hotels span four continents and 11 countries, with over 100 locations.

Tata Group subsidiary IHCL has confirmed that the Taj at Suheli will have 110 rooms. This includes 60 beachfront villas and 50 water villas.

Kadmat Island is also known as Cardamom Island. It is a coral-covered island with a large lagoon, seagrass beds, and a marine protection area. The 110-room Taj Hotel in Kadmat has 35 water villas and 75 beach villas.

A small-cap company based in Ahmedabad, Praveg, is developing a tent city in Lakshadweep. The firm is known for its luxury resorts. Praveg, a small-cap firm based in Ahmedabad, is growing a tent city on Lakshadweep’s Agatti Island.

A post on his social media platform X, formerly Twitter, read: “Tourists lining up for travel to Lakshadweep & Ayodhya. Investors are lining to buy proven stocks.”

PM Modi’s Lakshadweep Visit

PM Modi shared several photos and videos highlighting the island’s beauty with the netizens. Lakshadweep is a must-visit for those who want to embrace their inner adventurer. “I also went snorkelling during my stay – it was an amazing experience,” he wrote.

Three Maldivian deputy ministers disparaged Modi’s post on X following his visit to Lakshadweep. They implied it was an effort to promote the Union Territory as a tourist destination alternative to the Maldives.

Media reports in Maldives state that Abdulla Mahzoom, Mariyam Shiuna, and Malsha Shareef have all been suspended.
