WI vs AUS: Shamar Joseph’s seven-wicket haul helped West Indies beat Australia by 207 runs on the fourth day of their second Test match at The Gabba, Brisbane, on Sunday.

West Indies won their first test on Australian soil in nearly 30 years. Joseph, the star of his team’s side, was a brilliant player who showed his brilliance during his brief career that lasted only two Test matches.

Joseph’s 7/68 was the match-winner. He also got Josh Hazlewood’s last wicket. The 24-year-old sent a full-length delivery straight to off-stump. Hazlewood attempted to defend it but was unable to connect when it struck the off stump.

The Windies players then followed Joseph to the boundary ropes—the pacer celebrated by running off with his arms wide apart at full speed.

After being hit in the toe with a Mitchell Starc Yorker, he was expected to be out for the season. He had to be carried off the field. On Day 4, he was able to take seven wickets and lead his team to a historic win.

Australia was the favourite to win. After the first hour, both Steve Smith and Cameron Green appeared dominant. West Indies were able to break the game open when Joseph removed Green and Travis Head from successive balls.

Shamar Joseph also took four wickets after the drinks break. Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, and Pat Cummins all failed to hold Starc in place. After a brief cameo, Starc was thrown down. Smith was the only wolf in the Australian batting order. He stood at the opposite end.

West Indies only needed two wickets to extend the first session. Nathan Lyon stayed around, and it appeared that Australia was gaining control.

Alzarri removed Lyon just as it appeared that Australia was in a perfect tempo. The pressure then fell on Smith. Shamar Joseph did it again to secure a famous victory.
